Publishing startup launches app that lets readers discover emerging novels as they are written
20 January, 2015 — Publishing platform Tablo today announced the launch of its first iOS and Android app ‘Tablo Reader’, which allows readers to discover their next favourite author from an endless library of new and emerging books.
Tablo, a platform that allows you to create, publish and read new books, is currently home to 20,000 authors from 130 countries, who are publishing more than one million words a day.
The new app gives readers the ability to browse through an endless library of the world’s best emerging books, while they are being written.
Ash Davies, Tablo’s 21 year old founder/CEO, said the app is the beginning of an entirely new discovery experience for both authors and readers.
“Our goal at Tablo has always been to help authors share their stories and connect with readers. The Tablo Reader is a big step forward. Authors now have a wonderful place to publish their work and readers have a never ending library of the best up and coming books.
“We’ve worked hard to create an experience where you can’t judge a book by it’s cover. With Tablo Reader, you browse by reading. You scroll through synopses and opening lines and, if something catches your eye, you’re a swipe away from the entire book”, Davies explained.
“Tablo is becoming a place for readers to discover, and for authors to be discovered. Today’s best musicians and filmmakers are uncovered on platforms like YouTube. We’d like to see the next generation of bestselling authors uncovered on Tablo, through the Tablo Reader.”
With hundreds of thousands of readers perusing the platform, Tablo is rapidly building a community of readers who are keenly engaging with authors during the traditionally solitary writing process.
“The app disrupts the traditional publishing model by allowing readers to take part in writers’ creative journeys,” said Davies. “Now readers can discover emerging authors from around the globe, and bestsellers can be spotted before they’ve even been finished.”
“There’s something exciting for readers about being part of that creative journey. We’re used to the suspense and cliffhangers on weekly television programs — it’s what keeps us hooked — and we’re bringing that same experience to readers.”
